Mission

The New River Land Trust is a local non-profit formed to protect the farmland,
forests, open spaces and historic places in Virginia’s New River region.
This service area includes the counties of Bland, Carroll, Floyd, Giles, Grayson,
Montgomery, Pulaski and Wythe and the cities of Galax and Radford. We preserve
precious land by educating landowners and other stakeholders about the benefits
of voluntarily donating conservation easements on their land, protecting it for
future generations. Since 2002, the New River Land Trust has worked hard to help
conserve over 31,000 acres in the New River region.

As
the only American Heritage River in Virginia and one
of only fourteen in the nation, the New River defines
our region and supports our economy. Land conservation
is critical as unprecedented development threatens our
water supply, wildlife habitat, and the overall natural
integrity of the region. |

This organization joins with 1,400 other land trusts, including
the Western Virginia Land Trust, in protecting over four
million endangered acres—making a
major impact on the American landscape.

The New River Land Trust now
has two easy ways for you to make a donation
Establish Your Legacy
You can help save the land and rivers that define our community
by donating to the New River Land Trust either in your
lifetime or in your estate. Some of your options include:
-
Make a gift in your will. Talk
to your financial advisor about the best way to leave
a legacy to the NRLT.
-
Include NRLT on your list of annual charitable
contributions. If you donate through the Commonwealth
of Virginia Campaign, the NRLT’s Code No. is 3515.
-
Make a gift of land. Many people don’t
have heirs who will care for and love their land. One
donor chose to leave her home and 12 acres to NRLT.
-
Consider a gift of stock.
Reduce taxes and Make
a difference
Your tax deductible investment in the NRLT will ensure
that future generations can enjoy the natural heritage, scenic
mountains and river corridors that make our home a special
place to live. |
