Mark your calendars for the eighth annual NRV day of giving – Wednesday June 23, 2021! GiveLocalNRV is the giving day that allows donors to support dozens of organizations in one place.
The McDonald Hollow Trail System in Blacksburg is open and many in our community are enjoying the trails. Now we’ve set our sights on building trails for Property 2, the second property in Brush Mountain Park.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 on GiveLocalNRV Day. Early giving is open now, so you can make a donation between now and 11:59 on June 23 and it will count towards our goal!
The good news is we aren’t starting from scratch. Your donation will build on the generous funding we’ve already received from partners and supporters.
The Virginia Outdoors Foundation Forest Core Fund allowed us to purchase the property and includes funding for site plan engineering and $12,000 towards building of the main climbing trail. Inorganic Ventures donated an additional $12,000 that will allow us to finish the main trail.
Your support will allow us to build more trails and connect to Jefferson National Forest, which will ease traffic on the Gateway Trail, currently the only way to access the Forest from the Town of Blacksburg.
Property 2 will have:
- 217 acres of intact forest
- 6 miles of multi-use trails
- Sections of scenic rock formations
- 2 trails that will connect to the Gateway Trail and Jefferson National Forest
- Technical downhill mountain bike trail and a flow trail
Brush Mountain Park properties will connect to:
- Heritage Park
- Gateway Park
- Blacksburg Mountain Bike Skills Park
- The Huckleberry Trail
- Jefferson National Forest’s Poverty Creek Recreation Area
Please make a donation any time before 11:59pm on June 23rd to help us build the remaining 6 miles of trails for the park!
