Volunteers Spruce Up Pollinator Garden at Nature Play Space

Thanks to volunteers from New River Valley Master Naturalists, Sustainable Blacksburg, and the New River Valley Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society, our pollinator garden the the Nature Play Space in Heritage Park got a makeover this summer.  Volunteers did lots of weeding, and recently added some new plants to the garden.

Pollinator gardens are designed to attract bees, butterflies, moths, flies, beetles, bats, and even hummingbirds. These animals perform the crucial ecosystem service of pollination–making it possible for our food and flowers to grow. A pollinator garden can have a positive impact on these important critters.
